If you are a veteran with a 100% Permanent and Total Disability rating from the VA, your entitled to have your disability claim expedited. Having a 100% Permanent and Total Disability rating from the VA does not necessarily mean you will be guaranteed to receive benefits because the requirements are different between the SSA and the VA, but your Security Claim won’t take as long as the average person applying for benefits. For SSA, you must show that your condition(s) has lasted a year or is expected to, you have a severe impairment and the impairment is so severe that you are unable to perform gainful employment.
For SSA to expedite your claim, in your application process, you must notify SSA of your 100% status and provide SSA with a copy of the VA letter verifying your rating. SSA will treat your case as a high priority although this does not mean you will receive a decision immediately, as there still is a process that needs to be followed.
