DELRAY BEACH, Florida—On September 18, 2023, Attorney Lyle Masnikoff was asked to speak at the Pre-law Society at American Heritage High School in Delray Florida. Professor Harris and Professor Porter invited Mr. Masnikoff to speak to about 60 students who hope to go to law school and become lawyers in the future. Mr. Masnikoff spoke about his background, the workers’ compensation law in Florida, and how to be an ethical attorney. At the end of the presentation, there was a question-and-answer session for the students.
On October 23, 2023, Mr. Masnikoff was asked to speak to a Human Resource class at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. Professor Lauryn De George teaches a Strategic Human Resource Management class. Ms. De George contacted Mr. Masnikoff to address the juniors and seniors in college about how employers should manage the complexities of the Florida Workers’ Compensation Law. Before representing injured workers, Mr. Masnikoff represented employers and carriers at a large defense firm. Mr. Masnikoff explained to the students how to apply these laws from both sides: the injured worker and the employer/carrier. Some of the topics included who is covered by the workers’ compensation law, what if you were injured outside of the State of Florida, and the importance of having a company handbook that addresses prior injuries and maintaining a Drug-Free Workplace.
Mr. Masnikoff spends a lot of time educating his clients about how the workers’ compensation laws work. He also speaks to different groups of people in the community such as high school and college students to bring awareness to practicing workers’ compensation law throughout the state of Florida.
