Lyle Masnikoff Discusses Legal Issues with President Barack Obama

August 29, 2012 – Lyle B. Masnikoff

On June 26, 2012, Lyle Masnikoff was one of twenty attorneys who was invited to the Civil Justice Committee Reception with President Barack Obama at The Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theater. Before meeting the President, the twenty selected attorneys, including Mr. Masnikoff, had an opportunity to meet with Attorney Bob Bauer, who is General Counsel for the President. Mr. Bauer has been an attorney for over 30 years and has represented many Presidents and Public Officials over the years.

Mr. Masnikoff and the other attorneys were given an opportunity to discuss with President Obama and Mr. Bauer, many of the legal issues that face their clients and the nation. Significantly, Mr. Masnikoff was able to discuss the future of the Social Security Disability and Medicare systems. Mr. Masnikoff represents people who are disabled and need Social Security Disability and Medicare. However, with the Baby Boomer Generation and the many budget cuts, the long term future of Social Security Disability and Medicare is at risk.
During the meeting, it was clear that President Obama and Attorney Bauer recognize the needs of our clients and how important it is for the Federal Government to maintain the Social Security Disability and Medicare Systems. Additionally, the President and attorneys discussed how to make the application and appeals process faster and more efficient.
Mr. Masnikoff will continue these types of discussions with the President and his General Counsel, as well as our local Legislatures and Senators. Its extremely important that our client’s rights are protected and their voices are heard, no matter which party is in the White House.
