Don’t Leave Money on the Table: Advice from a Florida Workers’ Comp Attorney
May 9, 2026 –
When you have a workers’ compensation claim, the employer and/or the insurance company will cover certain benefits for you. The two main benefits are your lost wages; so if you’ve lost wages as a result of the accident, they will pay you wages every two weeks until the doctor either released you from his care, or they’ve released you with certain restrictions that the employer can now accommodate you. The other big benefit that most people get is medical treatment, and that depends on what type of injury you’ve had, what kind of treatment the doctors are recommending—some people need physical therapy, some people need medication, some need injections, surgery—so it really just depends on what the doctor is recommending. But those are the two main benefits that workers’ comp will cover. There are, of course, other benefits that they will cover, such as, if you need help at home after a surgery, they could pay your wife or your husband or your significant other to help you recover. There’s also—they will provide transportation to and from your doctor’s appointments; they will also provide for mileage, so if you need to get reimbursed your mileage. And so there are many different benefits that they’ll cover, and we typically—when a client hires us—go over all those benefits and make sure they get everything that they’re entitled to under the law.
